Though Team and Instant Challenges don’t start until Wednesday, the competition was already heating up Monday morning, hours before registration opened. Teams were lining up to see who would be hailed the first team to register at Global Finals 2014.

The results came in from DI officials and the winner was… a tie! Two teams were given the honor of being the first teams to register at Global Finals: Team 6S from Bow Middle School in New Hampshire and The Merry Band of Misfits from Blaine High School in Minnesota, both traveling more than 14 hours by car.

Team The Merry Band of Misfits arrived first at Global Finals for the second year in a row.

“We had some new kids on the team and so we figured it would be fun for them to have a go at being first,” said team member Katie Sigler.
